How it works
Four steps. About 10 minutes of your time.
Tell us what happened
The company, the dates, what they charged you for, and a copy of their claim or invoice. About 10 minutes, free.
We check your answers
Within 1 working day, against fixed rules. If the pack fits your case, we email you a payment link. If not, we tell you, and you pay nothing.
You pay €39
One flat price, whatever the amount. Paid securely by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No other fees from us.
Your pack within 2 working days
The letters, the complaint and your dates, in the right order. You check them and send them yourself. If you choose to wait for your 14-day withdrawal period, it comes after that.
What's in your dispute pack
Up to three letters and a dated plan, written for your rental, your company and your card. You send them yourself.
A letter to the rental company
Dated and ready to send. It disputes the charge, asks for it to be put on hold, and demands the evidence that fits it: check-out and check-in reports with photos, repair quotes or the real invoice for damage, fuel readings and receipts, key records, your signed consent for extras, and how they worked out the amount.
A complaint for the right free dispute body
For the free body that fits your rental, if there is one: ECRCS for cross-border rentals booked direct with one of its 12 member brands, BVRLA for UK rentals, consumer arbitration in Portugal, the European Consumer Centre for cross-border cases in the EU. Otherwise, the official complaint route in the rental country.
A letter to your card issuer
A letter that cites the card rules the company had to follow (Visa or Mastercard), with the date to send it by. ECRCS and BVRLA refuse cases already raised with your card issuer, so the pack tells you when. Not for customers living in the UK.
A dated roadmap
Every step with a date: when to send what, how long to wait, and what to do next. Plus a short guide to small claims if nothing else works.
One flat fee. Any refund is all yours.
No percentage, no subscription, no extra fees.
- Letter to the rental company
- Complaint for the right dispute body, where one fits
- Letter to your card issuer (not for UK residents)
- Dated roadmap and small claims guide
- ECRCS, BVRLA and the European Consumer Centres cost nothing
- You find the right body, the order and the deadlines yourself
- Most cases ECRCS turns away skipped the complaint to the company first
You pay on Stripe's secure page after the check. Your pack arrives by email within 2 working days of payment if you ask us to start at once, otherwise within 2 working days after your 14-day withdrawal period.

Who is behind Appeal My Rental
I'm Soren Elbek, and I run Appeal My Rental from Helsinki. I started it because it happened to me more than once. Weeks after I had handed back the car, a charge turned up on my credit card: for keys I never lost, and for fuel that was already part of the deal. Charges after a rental follow the same pattern: a charge long after you return the keys, a price nobody explains, and a template reply when you object. The free routes exist, but they have strict rules on order and timing. The pack puts them in the right order for your case. I'm not linked to any rental company, and this is a document service, not a law firm.
Questions
Which charges does the pack cover?
Charges a rental company makes after you return the car: damage, lost keys, fuel or charging, cleaning, a late return, extras or insurance you did not agree to, extra mileage, one-way or out-of-hours fees, fines and the fee for passing them on, and a deposit that was not released.
Is it worth it for a small charge?
Probably not if the charge is under about €150. Our fee is €39, and for a small amount a short email to the company may be enough. We tell you on the form if the amount looks too small to be worth it.
Are ECRCS, the ECC and BVRLA really free?
Yes. You can use them without us. What we do is make it easier: we write the letters, pick the right body for your rental, and put the steps in the right order with dates, so your case is not turned away on a technicality.
I booked through a broker or a travel site. Can you help?
Yes, but ECRCS is closed to you: it only takes bookings made directly with the rental company. The pack then uses the official complaint route in the rental country and, where we offer it, the letter to your card issuer. If you live in the EU, Norway or Iceland, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help for free too. The pack also tells you what to send to the broker.
I have excess insurance. Do I still need this?
Maybe. Excess insurers usually want you to contest an unfair charge with the rental company first, and they may ask to see that you did. The letter in the pack does that. Check your policy.
I have already called my bank. Is it too late?
No, but it changes the plan. ECRCS and BVRLA will not take a case you have already raised with your bank or card company. The pack then focuses on the letter to the company and, where we offer it, on your card dispute.
Does it work if I live in the UK?
Yes. For a rental in the EU booked direct with a member brand, ECRCS is the main free route. For a rental in the UK it is BVRLA conciliation. Since Brexit, UK residents generally can't use the European Consumer Centres. For UK residents we do not prepare the letter to the card issuer: the pack says you can ask your card issuer whether a dispute or a section 75 claim is possible.
Should I pay the charge to avoid trouble?
That is your choice. You do not have to pay a charge you dispute while you ask for the evidence, but the company can pass it to a debt collector or go to court. Never ignore official papers: answer them by their deadline. If you would rather avoid that risk, you can pay, say in writing that you pay under protest, and still dispute it.
How fast do I get my pack?
We check your answers within 1 working day. If you pay and ask us to start at once, the pack comes within 2 working days. If not, it comes within 2 working days after your 14-day withdrawal period, and its dates count from the day you get it.
Can I change my mind?
Yes. Until your pack is delivered you can withdraw and get a full refund: use the link at the bottom of every page, or email us. If you asked us to start at once, the right ends when we deliver the pack.
What happens to my data?
We use it only for your case. Case data and uploads are deleted 60 days after delivery, or 60 days after you sent the form if you don't buy. Our server is in Finland. We never ask for card numbers or ID documents. After delivery we email you once, after 2 weeks, to ask whether the company replied. The privacy policy has the details.
Does it work for a rental outside Europe?
No. The pack is built on the rules for rentals in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland.
Will I get my money back?
We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. The decision is made by the rental company, a dispute body, your bank or a court. What the pack does is ask for the right evidence, use the right route and keep to the deadlines.
Are you a law firm?
No. We are a document service. We prepare the documents from what you tell us, and you send them yourself. We do not represent you, and we are not linked to any rental company.
Charged for something you don't owe? Answer it in writing.
Tell us about the rental and upload their claim. We check it within 1 working day, free.
